About Us

The Dance Company, formerly the Ann Hodge Studio, was started in 1969 to promote dance in the area.  Over the past forty years, the studio has performed for community events, attended conventions and competitions, and has traveled to Japan, Spain, Russia, Romania, and Greece as ambassadors of dance.  We have always tried to inspire confidence and to develop our students' talents to their full potential.  We do so by creating a comfortable, family atmosphere, encouraging our students to develop a positive image of themselves, and encouraging them to get along with others.  Our mission is to teach fundamental dance technique while insuring that our students are exposed to all of the modern dance styles.  If one of our students wants to make dance a profession, we want to make sure she has choices.

Dancers from our studio have gone on to earn scholarships at the University of Tennessee, the University of Memphis, the University of Mississippi, New York University, Florida State University, and East Tennessee State University, both on dance teams and in dance company ensembles.  Dance Company alumni have performed in Broadway productions and at Radio City Music Hall in New York City.  In Las Vegas, alumni have performed at the Follies Bergere, in Siegfried and Roy's production, and in dance shows at Caesar's Palace and Harrah's.  Several have gone on to work for dance teams in the National Basketball Association:  the Orlando Magic, the Atlanta Hawks, the New Jersey Nets, and the Memphis Grizzlies.  Graduates of the Dance Company have also performed at Disney World, Opryland, Dollywood, and Dixie Stampede.  Several have worked on cruise ships all over the globe, and several have gone to to open their own dance and cheer studios.
